that special bond.

my big kids have really formed an incredible bond. it was always fun to watch them play together but since william joined our family they really have started to really PLAY together. of course, that comes with more fighting too. but, i'd like to just touch on the sweet moments. the other day we came home from school. after snacks and some downtime blake went to his favorite activity, building a tower. minutes later avery went running into the playroom and says "hey buddy, want to build a tower together." those words were so sweet. i had left the gate to the stairs open and blake found it. avery followed. as he started to climb up avery said "wait, let me ask mommy if it's okay." she comes running to me and says "mom, can blakey and i go upstairs? i promise i'll watch him." these were the moments i dreamed about. the moments i couldn't wait to hear. so, up the stairs they go. the music is turned up. loud. they sound like they are having fun. then comes the big thud, and blake starts whining. immediately avery says "i'm so sorry, blake. i'm so sorry." that was what i always wanted her to be able to do. to admit she made a mistake and did something wrong and say she was sorry. i'm not sure if she hurt him or he just hurt himself but her immediate reaction was to tell him she was sorry. i love that about her.

she is very motherly and blake is a great sport. he was recently sick and i had just finished giving him a bath upstairs and he wasn't crying for me or daddy but said "i want avery". melted my heart.

and because no post is complete without pictures. my wonderful friend, kelly garvey, met us when will was two weeks old. i can't believe how much he has changed and grown already. forever thankful for the wonderful pictures during such a special time. a time that goes by way too quickly!

despite being a two year old + a boy. blake is about the sweetest thing i have ever seen. of course avery is so gentle! but when will starts crying blake is the first one running to him and trying to pick him up and then comes running to me saying "oh no baby"
