happy birthday to the sweetest little guy i know! seriously. this has been the fastest year of my life! i really never thought i could love another baby so much it hurts. i realize this sounds very cliche but it's the honest truth. what to say to my sweet baby boy. the saying the grass is always greener isn't the way you think. you are so happy with what you have right in front of you. if your sister snatches a toy it's generally okay and you will move on. your hugs are still the sweetest. my favorite part of the day is when i get you out of bed. you always give me a hug and wrap your arms around me. of course you then throw your head back so i can take your sleepsack off. but, that hug with worth more than my weight in gold. your big blue eyes still get me everytime. your personality. well, your personality is the best. if i had to pick one word to describe you it would be happy. or maybe dancey (but that's not a word). when you get happy (which is a lot) you wiggle side to side. and if you hear music you almost always dance. really, it's the cutest thing. your sister adores you and insisted on giving you a hug and a kiss before bedtime. as we tried to leave the room she said "wait mom, i didn't give my baby a kiss." you two play so well together. even better when you guys think i'm not watching. you love to be with people. you will follow me around the house when i go from room to room. you have no separation anxiety as you crawl up on other people's laps all the time. the only time you really scream is when a dog barks. but, i think you'll get over that. :) your favorite place is in the bath tub. if you are ever the slightest bit fussy just put you in the bath and you will play for hours.
as far as routines and milestones, you've mastered them all in your own time. while at times i wanted to rush you to crawl because other kids your age were doing it, you reminded me that it isn't a race to the finish. you crawled on your own terms. i imagine walking will be the same way. while i want to push you at times i know you will walk when you are ready. eating. well, eating was the same way. you didn't really start eating anything other than my milk until 10 months. then by 11 you were putting down gyros and pitas. you just weren't ready. and i'm okay with that. but, i might need you to remind me every once in awhile as the competitive mommy comes out and i start comparing you. :)
as i wipe away the tears writing this i just want you to know how much we love you! i can't even begin to imagine you not in our family. i could write a novel but i'll save it for your book. :)
