what a week!

my friend amanda (the beautiful pregnant girl i shared pictures of a couple of weeks ago) had her baby on wednesday! he is just perfect and healthy! mark came home early and let me go meet him on wednesday! i'm so excited for all of these new babies! i'm realizing how fun it's going to be to watch avery and our friend's children grow up together!

friday night avery took her first real swim with her new float. she was hesitant at first but then loved it! 3 of my favorite things to do in the summer are...

and last but not least, we received a phone call friday night. mark's sister, toby, had a baby girl!!! avery's new cousin was born at 6:09pm, weighing 6 lbs 12 oz. toby had a smooth delivery and everyone is doing great! we're going up to colorado the end of may to meet gabriela katheryn, also known as gabi! we can't wait to meet her! until then we will be eagerly awaiting more pictures!

hips don't lie

shakira better watch out because avery can move her hips!!! we were flipping through the channels on tuesday and glee came on. if you don't watch they randomly bust into song during the show. anyways, a song came on and she pulled up on the couch and started "dancing"! we were cracking up. so yesterday i thought i'd see if she was really dancing! and yes, she gives herself applause!

this weekend was busy and fun but let me back up a little. last week i got to play with my friend's little boy, Carson, while mom went to an appointment. it's always fun to see avery interact with other kids. C is a brand new big brother so i figure it's good practice for him to learn to help and share with a little girl. he practiced feeding her and giving her a drink. he also learned that she can't catch a basketball yet, LOL! now to this weekend! my cousin is having a baby in september. they had a "gender reveal party", which in case you don't know it goes something like this. the sonogram tech writes down the gender and puts it in a sealed envelope. the parents then give the baker the envelope and he makes a cake and puts a layer of filling in the middle with either pink or blue depending on the sex. then, in front of all of their family they cute the cake and find out what they are having...coolest idea ever huh? i know, i'm going to steal it one day hopefully! oh, and also everyone wears pink or blue depending on what they think it is. i was wearing the right color of course and as you can guess mark had on a blue shirt with a pink shirt underneath (someone doesn't like to lose)! :)

this was their friend's daughter, i just couldn't resist those curls. i also love a girl who loves cake

so today i was late putting avery down for her nap so i had to wake her up because i had an eye appointment. i went to wake her up and she just looked so peaceful. so naturally i went to grab my camera to get a couple of sleeping shots because that never happens anymore. of course she woke up before i even snapped one photo. this is the look you get when you wake a sleeping baby. can you blame her?

i should start out with saying i am 10 days into growing a garden and i haven't killed anything yet! i'm not hopeful at all that anything will grow but i'm giving it a good try! we planted one bed weekend before last and yesterday my friend amanda gave me tomato and hot pepper plants that i planted right away! naturally, i've decided to photograph them every week to see the progress. don't worry i will spare you the week by week updates of my plants but hopefully can share the end result in 45-60 days (according to the tags on the plants).

we went to corpus for the weekend to meet avery's new cousin! baby maiya was born 3 weeks ago! she is such a good baby and you could tell has a lot of people who love on her. she was on the picnic table long enough for me to get a couple of pictures but it wasn't more than a minute until someone said they were going to pick her up! we also got some qt with mimi and aunt allison! :)
